RATAN TATA INVESTING IN A SILIGURI BASED TEA E-TAILER COMPANY

Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 27th January, 2016: Siliguri is the undeclared business capital of North Bengal is again proved when the Tata Son’s chairman emeritus Mr. Ratan Tata had decided to invest in a none other than a speciality Tea E-Tailer called Tea Box which is a very new company founded on 2012. This has been disclosed by the CEO Mr. Kaushal Dugar to a national tech portal. Though it’s not new for Mr. Tata has it is turned to be the 5th investment of him in 2016 itself. Earlier he has been investing profoundly in 2015 in some promising companies. However, for the Siligurians it’s a delight as the name of Tea Box is associated with the city. According to the company officials, the investment money would be used in the company’s expansion in the International platform. The CEO also informed the portal “Ratan Tata’s direct guidance and experience in the tea industry will surely help us grow as the first global premium tea brand from India,” Teabox said it will use the money mainly to expand its global footprint. The company currently exports tea to 93 countries and aims to cross 100 soon. “Ratan Tata’s direct guidance and experience in the tea industry will surely help us grow as the first global premium tea brand from India,” Dugar said. Basically, Teabox is founded by Kaushal Dugar which provides an online platform through which it ships fresh Indian tea to customers globally. It sources premium tea directly from the plantations in Darjeeling, Assam and Nepal. Teabox has raised $6 million in Series A funding led by a venture capitalist firm from Singapore called JAFCO Asia. Apart from this, there are investors like Accel Partners, along with Keystone Group LP and Dragoneer Investment Group.
